BATTERY DIAGNOSTICS
Detailed Battery Testing & Fault Analysis
Not every battery needs replacing. Many small EV battery faults can only be understood properly after structured testing.
Our diagnostics service is designed to identify the likely cause of battery problems and assess whether the battery can be safely repaired or refurbished.
When to Book a Diagnostic Check
You may need a battery diagnostic assessment if your battery:
- No longer charges properly
• Loses range much faster than before
• Cuts out while riding
• Does not power the bike or scooter
• Shows unusual voltage readings
• Gets warmer than normal
• Has been exposed to water
• Has visible connector or casing damage
• Works intermittently
• Has been unused for a long period
What We Test
Our diagnostics process may include:
- Visual condition check
• Voltage analysis
• Capacity testing
• Internal resistance testing
• Charge and discharge testing
• Cell group analysis
• BMS fault investigation
• Connector and wiring inspection
• Temperature and safety checks
• Charger compatibility review where required
Battery Types We Work With
We work on a range of small EV lithium ion battery systems, including:
- E bike batteries
• E scooter batteries
• Delivery bike batteries
• Cargo bike batteries
• 36V battery systems
• 48V battery systems
• 18650 lithium ion cell packs
• 21700 lithium ion cell packs
Our Diagnostic Process
1. Battery Intake
Each battery is logged and labelled. We record the battery type, customer concern, visible condition and any background information that may help the assessment.
2. Initial Safety Check
Before testing begins, we check for visible safety concerns such as swelling, leakage, overheating, impact damage, water ingress or signs of previous unsafe repair.
3. Electrical Testing
The battery is tested using diagnostic equipment to assess voltage, capacity, cell behaviour and overall battery performance.
4. Fault Identification
We review the diagnostic results to identify likely faults, such as cell degradation, imbalance, BMS failure, wiring damage or connector problems.
5. Repair Viability Review
We explain whether the battery appears suitable for refurbishment, whether further work is recommended, and whether repair is likely to be cost effective.
What You Receive
After diagnostics, we provide a clear explanation of the findings. Where suitable, we can also provide an estimate for repair or refurbishment work.
If the battery is not suitable for repair, we will explain why and advise on the safest next step.
Benefits of Professional Diagnostics
- Avoid replacing batteries unnecessarily
• Identify faults properly before repair
• Improve battery safety and reliability
• Understand battery health and remaining performance
• Support better decision making for riders and businesses
