Giving EV Batteries a Second Life

Piffers is a specialist UK battery diagnostics and refurbishment company based in Surrey. We work with small EV lithium ion battery systems, including e bike, e scooter, delivery bike and light mobility batteries.

Our work helps customers understand what is wrong with their battery, whether it can be safely repaired, and how to extend its useful life where possible.

We focus on three things: safety, sustainability and practical battery support.

Trusted Battery Support in Surrey

Battery faults can be confusing and costly. A battery may stop charging, lose range, cut out under load, overheat, or show physical signs of damage. In many cases, customers are told to replace the full battery without a proper diagnostic check.

At Piffers, we take a more careful approach. Each battery is assessed through a structured process, starting with intake, visual inspection and safety checks before any detailed testing or repair work begins.

Our workshop is equipped for lithium ion battery diagnostics and refurbishment, with battery testing equipment, ESD safe workstations, fire resistant storage systems and controlled operating procedures.

A Short Introduction About Us

Piffers was created to support the growing electric mobility sector with a safer and more sustainable approach to battery management.

We help individual riders, delivery workers, workshops, retailers and fleet operators reduce unnecessary battery waste by testing and refurbishing suitable batteries rather than replacing them straight away.

Our team works with common small EV battery systems, including 36V and 48V packs built with 18650 and 21700 lithium ion cells. Every battery is handled with care, and we only proceed with repair work where it is suitable and safe to do so.

Safety Comes First

Lithium ion batteries must be handled correctly. Some batteries can be unsafe to open, charge or repair, especially if they are swollen, leaking, overheating, heavily damaged or previously modified. For this reason, we carry out safety checks before diagnostics or refurbishment. If a battery is not safe to repair, we will explain this clearly and advise on the next appropriate step.
